Studies have shown that there is less than 2% chance of anyone getting lice from items such as stuffed animals, bedding, carpet, linens, helmets, hats, coats, dress-up clothes, and draperies. This is because lice cannot live more than approximately 24 hours off the head.

Clean up in 5 easy steps…

Step 1: Make a list of places and items heads have touched the last 24 hours?

Step 2: Bag hard to machine wash items such as:

• Pillows
• Comforters
• Stuffed Animals
• Bike Helmets

Step 3: Vacuum

• Floors
• Couches
• Car Seats

Step 4: Machine wash items that can be washed and dried in high heat such as:

• Sheets
• Clothes (hats, coats – or bag them)
• Items can be put in the dryer on high heat for 20-30 minutes without being washed

Step 5: Boil items that can be put in hot water (130 F) for 10 minutes such as:

• Combs
• Brushes
• Hair Accessories
